Chinese Bridge, Godmanchester Fp 14 – Proposed repairs and footpath closure

Please be advised of the upcoming refurbishment and painting works to Chinese Bridge, Godmanchester Footpath 14.   The works are due to commence on 12^th June for 7 weeks and the bridge will be closed during working periods.  It will not be possible to open the bridge for use at the end of each shift or every weekend as there will be times when timber sections will be missing or paint will be drying.

The bridge will be open on the weekend 1-2 July to enable people to access the Gala Day/ Picnic in the Park.

Temporary repairs to the timber were made last year but these upcoming works will involve more wholesale timber replacement and painting. A lot of the softwood timbers will be replaced with hardwood timber which will hopefully increase the longevity of the structure.
